Boynton Beach, FL · Cards · Wine · Trash talk

Pull up a chair. Your table is waiting.

Canasta Girls is a Boynton Beach club for women who love a good game, a good glass of wine, and a full table. New to canasta or a seasoned melder, there's a seat for you.

Why canasta

The card game that never gets old

Canasta took over living rooms in the 1950s and never really left. It's easy to learn in an evening and still surprising after a hundred games.

♠

Strategy with a partner

You play in teams of two, so every meld is a conversation. Do you freeze the pile? Hold your wild cards? Go out now or build one more canasta? You decide together.

♥

Luck keeps it fun

A lucky draw can turn the whole game around. Beginners can beat veterans on any given night, which keeps everyone at the table laughing and coming back.

♦

Keeps your mind sharp

Counting points, tracking the discard pile, and remembering what your opponents picked up gives your memory and focus a real workout, without it ever feeling like work.

Canasta is really an excuse to get together. The cards are just what you hold while you catch up.

That's the Canasta Girls way.

The social side

More than a game. It's your people.

House specialties

A glass of wine and a little trash talk

Every great game night needs two things on the table besides the cards: something nice to sip and someone to tease. We supply the wine list. You bring the attitude.

Red canastaPinot Noir

Seven natural cards, no wild ones. Pair it with a red that's just as smooth.

Mixed canastaRosé

A little of this, a little of that. A blend for a blended meld.

Frozen pileChilled Sauvignon Blanc

When the pile is frozen, so is your glass. Crisp, cold, and a little sharp.

Going outProsecco

Worth 100 bonus points and a toast. Pop something bubbly.

Overheard at table 2Freezing the pile already? Bold move for someone holding three black threes.
The replyI'd discard that seven, but I'd hate to make it this easy for you.
Table 1Pick up that pile, I dare you. It's practically gift-wrapped.
Table 3Don't worry, partner. We'll be out before she finds her reading glasses.

House rule: trash talk is encouraged, always with a smile. What's said at the table stays at the table, and nobody leaves without a hug.
